2007 Junior Golf League

Welcome to the Junior Golf League (JGL) - Below is a list of rules. Please read and learn these with your parents. There just might be a rules quiz sometime with prizes, so study up! Our goal is to make the JGL the best youth program you have ever seen! If you or your parents have ideas on how to help us, please let us know.

JGL Rules

  • Have Fun
  • Be Honest -  You will be keeping your own score so it is important to remember how many shots you take and write down the real number. There will be some different contests with prizes throughout the year but rarely will just the lower scores win, so be honest!
  • Play the Course in Less Than 2 Hours -  In order to help you do this we will have helpers on the course watching to make sure you keep up with the group in front of you. There may be times when we will ask you to skip a hole if your group falls too far behind.
  • Be Safe -  Make sure no one is close to you when you swing and be careful where you stand when others are swinging. Never hit a ball at someone else. If you accidently hit a ball towards someone, as loud as you can, yell "FORE" (That means, watch out! a ball is coming at you)
  • Play a Maximum of Only 10 Shots per Hole -  After you hit your tenth shot and if you have not holed out, pick up your ball and go to the next hole.
  • Use Proper Manners - Treat each other kindly. Be courteous when you play. Help each other find lost golf balls. Never make fun of others. Fighting, cursing and club throwing will not be tolerated. Players exhibiting these behaviors will be warned and suspended for the rest of that day. A second violation will result in suspension for the remainder of the year.
  • Use Proper Golf Etiquette - Please replace your diviots and repair your ball marks. Be careful not to make scrapes or dents in the green with your shoes or clubs. Don't talk or make noise while others are trying to hit. Never place your golf bag on the green or take your pull cart across the green and never "hit into" the group in front of you.

JGL Information

  • Bad Weather -  Should there ever be a day when weather forces a cancellation of play, there will not be a make-up day. We will do everything we can to play planned rounds, however, the JGL staff will never compromise the safety of the members or risk damage to the golf course. You may call the pro-shop if there is a question as to whether we may or play because of weather at (801) 373-6262.
  • Competition and Awards - There will be occasions when we have contests with prizes available. These contests are meant to give members a competitive experience. Because the skill levels and ages of the members vary, prizes and awards will not necessarily be given to the lowest scores. While the low scores may win sometimes, most awards will be given for things like being honest, demonstrating good etiquette, as well as random drawings.
  • Final Day Activities and Lunch - On August 13th, the last day of the league, instead of regular play we will be having a number of activities. Members should still come within their scheduled time block. There will be a number of contests set up on the executive course such as straight drive, chipping, closest to the hole, long drive and putting. Breakfast (donuts) or lunch (pizza) will be served when they finish. More details of each contest will be available that day. There will be lots of prizes available so make sure you practice your skill and plan to join us for lots of fun!
  • Driving Range and Extra Rounds - The driving range is available should members ever wish to warm up or practice. The cost of a medium bucket is $5.50. JGL Members wishing to play the executive course at times other than league times need to check in wiht the pro-shop. Green fees are $8.00.
