Kean Ridd

Head Professional: 1978 – 2015

Kean is still an active member of the PGA of America and affiliated with the Utah Section of the PGA. Kean has been an avid player of the game of golf his whole life. He began his professional career as an assistant golf professional and instructor at the Phoenix Country Club in Phoenix, Arizona. After two years of working in the Phoenix area, he moved to St. George, Utah and took over the duties as the Head Golf Professional at Bloomington Country Club.

After serving four years at the Bloomington Country Club, he moved on and became an instructor at the famed Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California where he was later named the Director of Golf Instruction.

A few years later, having an opportunity to move back to his native home of Utah, Kean became the head professional at the Oquirrh Hills Golf Club in Tooele, Utah. Shortly after, Kean got his chance to move back to Utah Valley to take the position of Head Professional at the Timpanogos Golf Course in Provo, Utah.

Kean served Provo for over 38 years, beginning at the original Timpanogos Golf Course until he retired on December 31, 2015 after 30 years at East Bay Golf Course.

  • 2012 PGA Utah Section Super Senior Champion
  • 2009 Utah Open Super Senior Champion, 2009 PGA Utah Section PGA Super Senior Champion.
  • Played in two United States Senior Opens, 2004 and 2006.
  • Over 30 Professional Tournament Wins, including 6 Utah Section PGA Championships.
  • Instructor and senior staff member of Johnny Miller’s Celebrity Golf Schools, Golf Digest Schools and John Geertsen’s Player Development Schools.
  • Chairman Utah Section PGA Club Relations Committee 1993, 1994.
  • President of the Utah Section PGA
  • Served as President of the Central Chapter PGA of America, 1994.
  • World Father & Son Invitational Champions, 1992.
  • Member of Brigham Young University Golf Team from 1963 to 1967–All WAC in 1966 and WAC Champions 1965 & 1966.
  • Won Utah State Junior Open five-times.
  • Received All State Honor’s two years, Utah State High School Association.
  • Two-time individual winner of Utah State High School Golf Championship.
  • Served Provo High School as their Golf Coach for three years.
  • Established instructional golf programs and have conducted them for East Bay Golf Course, Kean Ridd Golf Instruction, the Robert Louis Stevenson School, Pebble Beach, California. The Oquirrh Hills Golf Course, Tooele, Utah, the Bloomington Country Club, St. George, Utah and the Phoenix Country Club, Phoenix, Arizona.
